LED Pixel Icosahedron - D20
A simple Icosahedron made with custom triangle shaped PCBs. Each PCB has 3x APA102 addressable pixels, with connections on the each of the three sides to connect to adjacent PCBs. The board to board connection is made with solder and can be arranged in any configuration. A section of the boards is removalbe which allows access to the internal space which holds the 18650 battery, power switch, charger board, and pixel controller. Magnets hold it closed, and shapelock/polymorph plastic is used for the fittings and battery holder.
These are tedious to assemble, and fairly fragile, but everyone loves it. The APA102 triangle boards are open-hardware, links below. Any pixel controller and internal power configurations can be used. But mapping the pixel locations is fairly difficult.
