Hexagon Pixel Poi Project

This project uses two hexagon shaped LED panels with 30 APA102 5050 pixels on each. The electronics are sandwiched between panel with hot glue, VHB tape, and solder pads. Just made the pair as a one-off project. Good example of what a pixel controller electron can do and a demonstration of a custom LED pixel panel. Plan to make a case of silicone or plastic, they are pretty fragile as is.

  • 2x APA102 LED Panel - 30 Pixel Hexagon
  • Protected 14550(about AA sized) lithium battery
  • TP4056 USB Charge Controller
  • DPST toggle switch - picture show a similar SPST solution
  • Moldable Plastic - Shapelock, InstantMorph, etc
  • 2x brackets made out of 2" x 0.125" aluminum flat bar
  • Nuts and bolts
  • Optional DC-DC 5 volt step up - not used
